Legislative Exchange program to accept applications for 2025

August 21, 2024 - The Alaska Center for Excellence in Journalism will soon begin accepting applications for its 2025 Legislative Reporter Exchange program. The professional development program offers small newsroom reporters the opportunity to cover the State Capitol for their organization during the legislative session, while providing a student intern in the home newsroom to assist with hometown coverage. The reporters will be mentored by longtime legislative journalist Larry Persily, and the students will receive on-the-ground intern experience in a newsroom. The Alaska Center for Excellence in Journalism covers travel for both reporter and student, and provides a small stipend for the intern and per diem for the reporters.

Applications open Monday, August 26. The deadline for reporters to apply is Sept. 30, 2024 at 8:00 p.m. The deadline for students to apply is Oct. 15, 2024 at 8:00 p.m.
